My name is Maria and what you are seeing now is my small fundraising initiative, welcome :)

In February 2024 I will be running a half marathon and I thought this could be a great idea to fundraise and donate some money to Medicines Sains Frontieres/Doctors without Borders/Medicos sin Fronteras to support refugee and displaced population.

If you know me a bit, you probably know I am a humanitarian worker and a new amateur runner. Currently, I work together with an amazing team to support the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine and those who are now in neighbouring countries. My interest in humanitarian work is not entirely new. Over the last years, I have worked supporting refugees and displaced population in different contexts, which has allowed me to meet many inspiring and extremely resilient people . Sadly, I have also experienced closely the situation and the needs those communities face every day and how difficult circumstances are sometimes for those arriving in new countries.

My commitment to contribute to support refugee and displaced communities does not end at the end of my workdays. Therefore, I thought to use this opportunity to raise some money for a greater cause. I know running a half-marathon is not as spectacular as a marathon, but I still wanted to contribute to the cause to the best of my abilities. For this reason, besides running, I also will be fundraising for that day, any contribution to the cause, whether big or small, will be highly appreciated and will go directly to MSF.
